Pursuit of Happiness

Kid Cudi.

This morning, I stumbled upon a Tedx Talk video featuring Scott Mescudi. And I must say, what a gem of a video. Truly inspiring and very motivating. For those who don't know who Kid Cudi is, he is a lyrical genius which makes him a great artist.

I've been listening to Kid Cudi ever since my friends introduced his music to me in college. Day and night, mostly spent in car rides, his songs "Pursuit of Happiness" and "Erase Me" would always play. Couldn't get enough of it. As a music enthusiast, I'm not one to look into musicians and rappers' personal life. I care more about their music rather than their lifestyle. Up until today, I didn't know that Kid Cudi was from Ohio, did not know that he moved to New York to pursue music, and definitely did not know that he was 31 years old. But it was great to hear all these information about him; how his success came to be and what it took to get him there. Humility is a virtue.

With that, I'm going to leave this quote from the man himself,
"Life will throw you a ton of curve balls," he said. "It's scary, but if you believe and if you want it and if you want to work hard enough for it, it can be so. Cause there's no difference from me and you. I just really wanted this shit. I wanted it bad. And I didn't want to be a failure. And nobody's a failure in this room. Don't ever think that. We can all win... we are all the commanders of our own destiny."

Alright, round two!

Bonjour les amis,

Let's give this blog another try and this time, I'm doing this differently.

I am dedicating future posts including this one to my Happiness Project in lieu of the book I stumbled upon at Barnes and Noble called "The Happiness Project" by Gretchen Rubin. When I read this book, I was hooked with the creativity, self-reflection, and self-improvement that I wanted to try to discover my inner happiness.

At only 24, I don't believe that I have reached the peak of my Happiness. At one point, I thought I have, but upon reading this book, it made me realize that I can put another layer of happiness in my life.

Just like Gretchen, I created a list of 12 elements that I want to work on, one for each month of the year. In no particular order:

Health, Family & Friends, Relationship, Attitude, Style, Career, Hobby,
Money, Play, Passion, Literature, and Happiness

To help me reach my goals, I created 12 commandments. You might notice that some of my commandments are general rules that people should live by everyday,  but since starting this experiment, they mean more to me now.

Take pride in what you got
Failure is permitted
Act the way you want to feel
Do it now
Be more like Chrissy Teigan and Ayesha Curry
Identify the problem
Take it day by day
Open your heart
Be cautious but let your guard down
Do not overthink
Be intellectual
Find love

Now that I have an outline of my goals, I hope that you will join me on this adventure.

Until next time,
C
